UCAS Open Date Draws Near

The opening date for applying for teacher training courses has been announced by UCAS.

Prospective candidates will be able to take the next step in their career and begin applying for their teacher training course on Tuesday 8 October. In the week leading up to this, all courses will be available to view on the Gov.uk ‘Find Postgraduate Teaching Training Courses’ page:

Teach North, part of the Outwood Institute of Education (OIE), will be offering almost forty programmes, working in partnership with four well-respected universities, as part of its School Direct programme. 

Emma Tate, Associate Director at the OIE, said: “The opening of UCAS is always an exciting time, both for us and prospective candidates.

“This year marks a special moment for us as we will be taking applications for Teach North: North Yorkshire for the first time after we entered into a special partnership with the University of York.

“We are passionate about teacher training, from supporting prospective candidates through their application process to their exciting first year as an NQT. We recently welcomed 118 NQTs into the Outwood Family at our annual conference and we are thrilled to support those from our future 2020/21 cohort on their teaching journey.”

At Teach North: Tees Valley, in partnership with Durham University, nine teacher training programmes will be offered to prospective candidates.The subjects of these programmes will be; Biology; Chemistry; English; Geography; History; Mathematics; Modern Languages; Physical Education; Physics.  

Working in partnership with Leeds Beckett University, Teach North: West Yorkshire will be offering six programmes, with the subjects being; English; Geography; Mathematics; Physical Education; Primar; Primary Physical Education.

Sheffield Hallam University and Teach North: Yorkshire and Humber are offering 16 programmes to prospective candidates. Teacher training in Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Design & Technology, Drama, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Music, Physical Education, Physics, Primary, and Primary Physical Education will be offered.

Finally, the latest partnership is between the University of York and Teach North: North Yorkshire. In its first year this partnership will offer eight programmes, focussed on; Biology; Chemistry; English; History; Mathematics; Modern Languages; Physics; and Geography.
